Cooking With Cricut Challenge: Card Outreach

It's another wonderful Wednesday at Cooking With Cricut!  Our challenge this week was to make a card for  a special nine year old named Olivia.  She is this month's recipient at my teammate, Madison's "I Feel the Love" Project.  Madison started this outreach project over a year ago now and to-date over 600 cards and other handcrafted items have been donated by crafters world-wide to the monthly recipients.

Olivia lost her mom to cancer in 2011 when she was just 8 years old.  And this sweet little girl channeled her grief into raising funds and awareness for colon and lung cancer research. Olivia founded an organization called Kids Involved in Cancer Research (KICR).  KICR just held its 2nd Annual Kids Walk fundraiser -- last year they raised over $5,000 and have almost reached their goal of $7,500 this year.

Madison's ministry gives us the privilege of delivering sunshine to Olivia's heart. Our happy cards will bring a smile to her beautiful face as she fights her own battle of dealing with the loss of her mom. It will mean so much to her to see that there are people thinking of her, who took the time to make a fun little card especially for her. Every card will be a blessing, engulfing her with healing love and light.

Here is the card I made for Olivia . . .

I used Cricut's Hello Kitty Greetings for this cute little card.  All of the paper came from my paper stash.  I added some yellow Stickles for HK's nose and hot pink bling on her hair bow and plane.  Here's the recipe . . .
  • HK and the airplane measure 4 1/2" wide by 3 3/4" tall.
  • The clouds measure 2 3/8" wide by 1 1/2" tall.
The inside of the card says:  Dream big / reach for the stars / anything is possible / if only you believe.

Head on over to Cooking With Cricut and check out the wonderful cards our Design Team members made -- we'd love it if you'd join us in showering Olivia with love and encouragement!  Link up your card at CWC for a chance at being our next Top Chef and then mail it to Madison at the "I Feel the Love" Project.  Click here for more info and the mailing address.

The plane is gorgeous and you just can't look at Hello Kitty and NOT smile. :o) This is my most-wanted cart! I'm hoping it shows up in CCR since that's my last hope. Hehe.
