Welcome to Day 3 of birthday card week! My birthday is tomorrow and I could think of no better way to celebrate than with a week-long celebration with my bloggy buddies! A different card each and every day and a small piece of blog candy, too. And at the end of the week . . . a special gift drawn by random.org from all the party-goers!
Today is Wednesday and that means its Cooking With Cricut Challenge Day!!! June 22nd is National Watermelon Seed Spittin' Day and so Melin challenged us to include a watermelon on our project. I have a confession . . . I don't like the taste of watermelon. GASP! I know. However, I think they're really cute and the rest of my family LOVES watermelon! (Hope that gets me off the hook with the National Watermelon Grower's Association! LOL!)
My card measures 5 1/2" wide x 8 1/2" tall and is made from a sheet of plain white card stock. The mat measures 5" x 8" and is Bazzill Splash. Here's the recipe:
Doodlecharms - Watermelon cut 4" wide.
Doodlecharms - Watermelon cut 4" wide.
Create-A-Critter - Flag cut at 3" high.
Plantin SchoolBook - Grass border cut at 2 1/4" high.
Now . . . I bet you're wondering about that cute little watermelon-toting ant, aren't you! After scouring MyCutSearch.com for an ant (on a cartridge I own)and coming up empty, I decided to get creative.
I used shapes on Doodlecharms for the ant's body. His head is one of the flower centers; the body is the pumpkin using the blackout feature; and the antennae are from the dragonfly's body. His legs are the letter "L" on the Pooh Font cartridge. Using Cricut Design Studio (CDS), I laid everything out on my mat and welded it together!
I think he turned out pretty darn cute . . . if I do say so myself. Here is a screenshot of how I created the ant in CDS -- you can click on the picture to enlarge it to see the detail. (I just snipped off the dragonfly's body that hung down below my ant's chin. I also circled in red the parts I used to make the ant.)

I hope you'll link up a watermelon project at Cooking With Cricut this week. You could be our Top Chef winner! Pop on over and check out the other Design Team member's juicy watermelon creations!

To be eligible for the prizes please be a follower of my blog and leave a comment with your e-mail address. You can increase your chances, of course, by commenting on each day's post. Today's blog candy is two clear mini stamp sets -- one by Studio G and the other by Inkadinkadoo.
